Allergy = Art

Allergy is a hypersensitivity disorder of the immune system Allergic reactions occur to normally harmless environmental substances known as allergens; these reactions are acquired, predictable, and rapid. Common allergic reactions include eczema, hives, hay fever, asthma attacks, food allergies, and reactions to the venom of stinging insects such as wasps and bees. I am allergic to creativity – begining and creating new works make me panic and sweat. Creativity is a curse.

Old #drawing found in box – worth millions ?

Well to be honest this drawing is probably worth nothing but it was a pleasant supprise to rediscover it. I did this drawing around 1981 – I’m not sure why I did it but I’m glad it wasn’t lost… Continue reading →

my art and my disease

Do people make impulse ART purchases on the Internet?

If you have your paintings hanging in a gallery, shop etc then you can encourage people to look, touch even smell your works of art. High Street shopping and gallery purchases are a sensual experience, so how does this work on the Internet?

Clients are constantly searching for the next must have object, they read reviews, they visit galleries and craft fairs and are sometimes captured by cynical marketing. When friends, neighbours and family show off their latest lifestyle purchase, frantic impulse buying (online) begins.

Creating content that is memorable is important to your Art business and vital in perpetuating all the hard work you have done with web site search engine optimization. Optimisation is not a static process – updating web pages and creating new web content creates memorable websites – which is important if they have a commercial purpose…

Lalique Art Deco glasswork on the Orient Express

The Orient Express

Dining Car 4141 named ‘Côte d’Azur’ was built in 1929 as a first class Pullman and was decorated by René Lalique who in the 1920s became famous for his Art Deco glass work. He was also responsible for the glass and elegant coloured columns which filled the dining room and “grand salon” of the SS Normandie and the interior fittings, cross, screens, reredos and font of St. Matthew’s Church at Millbrook in Jersey – referred to as “Lalique’s Glass Church”.

Buzz Aldrin walks on the moon, July 20, 1969

Buzz Aldrin walks on the moon, July 20, 1969 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

As an 11 year old I watched the first moon landing in 1969. I was mad about everything to do with space travel, I would read anything that was about rockets, cosmonauts and astronauts. Later in my life I shook the hand of a man who shook the hand of my all time hero Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin, that was for me like touching history, if only secondhand (excuse the pun).

I was rummaging through old boxes of stuff and found the newspaper cutting of an astronaut on the moon – yellowed and faded – it still makes my heart flutter. I wish I’d been to the moon.

A total of twelve men have landed on the Moon. This was accomplished with two US pilot-astronauts flying a Lunar Module on each of six NASA missions across a 41-month time span starting on 21 July 1969 UTC, with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on Apollo 11, and ending on 14 December 1972 UTC with Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt on Apollo 17 (with Cernan being the last to step off the lunar surface). All Apollo lunar missions had a third crew member who remained onboard the Command Module. The last three missions had a rover for increased mobility.

‘BOLD and arresting artwork will catch the eye at West Buckland School this month. The striking exhibition of prints, drawings and paintings is by Woolacombe artist, Peter Bright.

In it, Peter revisits images and ideas from his past and re-execute them in print and paint.’

#Business + #Art

There are some #methodologies in art that make sense for business:

Insitutional Traits 2012

To produce a image that is better than the image of the mind is to give rise to a product of catastrophe. (To achieve exactness by design and skill is to reach a point of exhaustion and famine.) It is therefore acceptable to assume that an artist that is categorized as a genius has failed more successfully than one who is mediocre.

Create a sitemap and get your business seen by more clients

Are you having problems being seen by the major search engines? – Do you type in your name and not even appear on page three? The simple reason for this might be that they don’t know you even exist. The most efficient way (we have found) to get noticed is to place a simple xml sitemap onto your site and then physically submit the page(s) to Google
and the other main players.

We can create you an xml sitemap and a simple html sitemap and email them to you. Click the button below for instructions.

Damien Hirst: ‘I still believe art is more powerful than money’

‘For all that, Damien Hirst has become for many the epitome of the artist as businessman, entrepreneur and global brand. It is quite a transformation, given that in the wild years of the 1990s, when the YBAs held their own in the drinking, tooting and necking pills stakes with Noel and Liam and the rest of the Britpop crew…‘ Read more and get exclusive poster downloads:

The creation of the commodity?

The only true pursuit for the creative process is the creation of the commodity. There are no such things as art schools, public art and art galleries, they are simply empty vessels containing and perpetuating the (economic) elitist stranglehold on the common man’s freedom to think for himself.

Asia appears to be buying lots of new art

The art market seems to be a recession proof market with prices going up and up – maybe it is time to invest?

Alternative forms of investment other than traditional forms of  investments in stocks, bonds, cash, or property, could be a way of ‘bucking the trend’. The term ‘Alternative’ is a relatively loose one and includes tangible (?) assets such as art, wine, antiques, coins, or stamps. Why not invest in your own Art Business?

1978: I once had a girlfriend called Anne who wore ‘Charlie’ perfume. Every time we came close I sneezed. This was not conducive to a passionate affair. Her ‘big’ permed hair and ‘page three’ figure was always out of reach, until we discovered I was allergic to her bottled smell….later we discovered I was allergic to latex.
