On its own a site map is not the complete answer to search engine #optimisation

xml and html Sitemap Service for £2.50 – site map generator

Google, Bing, Ask and others support the Sitemaps protocol. Having a sitemap enables the biggest search engines (and the smaller) gain easy access to your updated page information. On its own a site map is not the complete answer to search engine optimisation. Sitemaps do not guarantee all links will be crawled, and being crawled does not guarantee indexing – however, a sitemap is still the best method of getting a search engine to learn about your entire site. XML sitemaps have replaced the older method of “submitting to search engines” by filling out a form on the search engine’s submission page. Now web developers submit a sitemap directly, or wait for search engines to find it.

Google introduced Google Sitemaps to enable web developers to publish lists of links from across their sites. The basic premise is that some sites have a large number of dynamic pages that are only available through the use of forms and user entries. The sitemap files can then be used to indicate to a web crawler how such pages can be found.

About morgue870176

Death by Sushi' Fish can kill me. When I was very small (maybe 3 or 4 years old) my grandfather, who lost the sight of one eye from a bullet fired by a German sniper (fortunately not a very good one) during the Battle of the Somme in World War 1, wiped my face with the corner of his apron, an apron he had used to wipe his filleting knife on. He was a grocery shopkeeper who specialized in wet fish. I think I am an artist (?)
